California tax lawyer, Charles “Chuck” Rettig, will be nominated as Commissioner of the US Internal Revenue Service, the White House announced today.
Rettig, an attorney with Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, PC, has served as Chair of the IRS Advisory Council, which suggests best practices and operational improvements for taxpayer services and IRS policies, programs, and procedures.
He is also the previous chair of the California Bar’s tax section and is currently vice-chair, administration for the American Bar Association’s tax section and vice-president of the American College of Tax Counsel.
If confirmed, Rettig will serve the remainder of the five-year term that began on November 13, 2017. David Kautter is currently serving as interim IRS Commissioner.
