Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) will serve on the US Senate Finance Committee in the 115th Congress, replacing retiring Sen. Dan Coats of Indiana.
His assignment was announced Tuesday by Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).
“The addition of Senator Cassidy strengthens the Republican side of this committee and I am confident that we’ll be able to continue our record of bipartisanship with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle to help meet the demands before us and produce real results for the American people,” Hatch said in a statement.
The Finance Committee oversees US tax policy and is expect to play a pivotal in the coming months as the US considers tax reform.
