Macedonia has joined the “Inclusive Framework on BEPS,” becoming the 117th country to participate in this global initiative.
The Inclusive Framework aims to promote worldwide uptake of minimum standards agreed to by OECD and G20 nations in 2015 as a result of the base erosion profit shifting (BEPS) plan initiative.
These minimum standards are designed to prevent tax avoidance by multinationals and improve cross-border tax dispute resolution.
By joining the framework, Macedonia has pledged to prevent the use of its treaties for tax treaty shopping, to abolish tax regimes that are deemed harmful to other nations, to collect and exchange country-by-country reports outlining activities of multinational firms, and to improve cross-border tax dispute resolution.
Macedonia will also be permitted to participate in international tax standard-setting work undertaken by Inclusive Framework members involving BEPS issues.
