Former PwC auditor charged in Lux Leaks theft

Former PwC auditor, Antoine Deltour, was charged with multiple crimes in Luxembourg on December 12 for stealing and leaking confidential PwC client advance tax rulings and other documents that were later placed on the Internet by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). Italy’s Parliament weighing new patent box regime

A bill introducing a patent box regime in Italy consistent with the OECD’s nexus approach was submitted to the Italian Parliament in October, writes PwC in a December 2 article. PwC notes that to be eligible for tax benefits under the bill, most taxpayers would need to enter into an advance pricing agreement with revenue authorities. USCIB sees flaws in draft US model tax treaty

The United States Council for International Business has written to US Treasury, arguing that draft provisions in the US model tax treaty released last May “tilt too far in their attempt to prevent inappropriate claims of treaty benefits.”  The group is concerned with provisions on special regimes, subsequent changes in law, and limitation on benefits. Australia’s tax office revokes six APAs

The Australian tax office (ATO) has revoked six advance pricing agreements (APAs) with multinationals within the last six months because the government had been misled and the companies were engaging in aggressive tax planning, reports Nassim Khadem of the Brisbane Times in a November 7 report, quoting ATO deputy commissioner, Mark Konza. Konza also said the ATO is reviewing the activities of 80 high risk multinationals. See,  Brisbane Times.
