Australian digital tax discussion paper released

The Australian Treasury on October 2 released a discussion paper outlining issues and current options for taxing the digital economy. The paper includes design considerations for possible interim measures targeted at businesses that benefit from user-created value.

The goal is to move towards a fairer and more sustainable tax system for the digitalised economy, Australian Treasury said.

Stakeholder views on the paper are sought by November 30.
