The OECD announced on April 16 that it appointed Fabrizia Lapecorella as the new head of the Committee on Fiscal Affairs starting on January 1, 2022.
The Committee on Fiscal Affairs (CFA) is the leading body for setting standards for international and domestic tax policy and administration, working closely with OECD member countries, and engaging with a large number of non-OECD, G20, and developing countries.
Lapecorella, who serves as Director-General of Finance of Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, will become the first female chair of the CFA since it was established in 1971. She is the second Italian to hold the job.
“I am very pleased that the members have selected Fabrizia Lapecorella to lead the CFA”, said Martin Kreienbaum, the current CFA chair. “She is well known to the Committee and brings a wealth of experience in tax policy and is well-versed in both the technical and political dimensions. I look forward to working with her over the remainder of my term to ensure a smooth transition.” Kreienbaum’s five-year term ends on December 31, 2021.
Lapecorella has served as Italy’s Director General of Finance since June 2008, where she has led the country’s tax policy. Before holding that position, Lapecorella held various roles at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. She also has been a professor of public finance since 2004. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bari, Italy, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of York, UK.
