Chris Jordan’s term as Australian Commissioner of Taxation (ATO) has been extended through February 2024, Treasurer Scott Morrison today announced.
But for today action, Jordan’s term would have expired at the end of 2019.
“Mr Jordan has shown strong leadership in working with the government to implement its strong multinational tax avoidance laws,” Morrison said.
Morrison cited the Australian Taxation Office’s win in Full Federal Court in a transfer pricing case involving Chevron last week as an example of the tax office’s successes under Jordan. He said the ATO expects to raise more than AUS $4 billion in additional tax revenue this year from large public groups and multinationals.
Morrison also announced the reappointment of Ramez Katf as Second Commissioner of Taxation through April 30, 2014.
