China signs tax treaty with Chile, protocol with Russia

China has signed a tax treaty with Chile and a protocol to its tax treaty with Russia, China’s State Administration of Taxation said in July 3 English-language releases.

The treaty with Chile, signed May 25, is the 100th treaty signed by China, the government notes. It is designed to reduce tax burdens for cross-border investors of both countries and includes a tax dispute settlement mechanism.

The protocol with Russia, signed May 8 in Moscow, “changes the principle for tax collection on interests from the previous sharing of tax right by country of resident and country of tax sources to exclusive enjoying of tax right by country of resident and tax exemption in the source country,” the government said.
