US IRS’s Heather Maloy to join EY

EY has announced that Heather Maloy, the IRS Commissioner for the Large Business & International (LB&I) Division, will join the firm’s national tax department as tax controversy leader.

“Heather’s background and experience, both at the IRS and in the private sector, will enable her to advise clients to ensure they are able to proactively anticipate and address both the procedural and technical aspects of tax issues,” said Michael Mundaca, co-leader of the National Tax Department at Ernst & Young.

Mundaca noted that tax controversy work has grown in importance as US companies face greater scrutiny from both US and foreign tax administrators.

Maloy has also worked in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel as the leader of the Income Tax & Accounting and the Passthroughs & Special Industries divisions and at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where she focused on tax controversy matters.
