US IRS publishes FATCA IDES and XML schema guides

The US IRS on January 6 released an updated version of its draft FATCA international data exchange services (IDES) user guide, adding several new chapters to the draft guide.

The IRS also released the “FATCA Metadata XML Schema v1.0 User Guide,” a tool for financial institutions and host country tax authorities that explains how to prepare and validate the IDES metadata file used in FATCA reporting.
