UAE tax authorities have opened a VAT registration portal to prepare for the introduction of the new tax, which will begin January 2018 at a standard rate of 5 percent.
Businesses must register for VAT if annual supplies and imports in the UAE exceed or that are expected to exceed Dh375,00 (~USD 102,000). Businesses with taxable supplies below Dh375,000 but over Dh187,500 (~USD 51,000) will have the option to register.
