Switzerland’s Federal Council on April 29 initiated a consultation on a federal decree which would implement automatic exchange of information in tax matters with Australia.
The consultation follows up on a joint declaration signed by Switzerland and Australia on March 3 expressing the countries’ commitment to begin automatic exchange of bank client data in 2018, provided the necessary legal foundations are created.
Comments are requested on the federal decree by August 19.
The Federal Council noted that Switzerland is negotiating the introduction of AEOI with other countries, and on March 19 initialed an agreement with the EU covering all 28 EU member states.
