South Africa’s National Treasury on July 17 published the 2018 Draft Taxation Laws Amendment Bill and 2018 Draft Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill for public comment.
The proposed guidance includes some provisions announced in the 2018 Budget Review on February 21.
Included among the proposals are modifications to rules on the conversion of debt to equity and on the interaction between South Africa’s anti-avoidance rules for dividend stripping with its corporate reorganisation rules.
The National Treasury and the South African Revenue Service welcome written public comment on the tax proposals.
