South Africa appoints new chief officer of customs and excise

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced January 30 that its chief officer of customs and excise, Jed Michaletos, has resigned and that Teboho Mokoena will take his place.

Michaletos resigned in December 2017 after two years with the agency. His last day will be February 7.

“I would like to thank Jed for the good work he has done at SARS during his tenure. I wish him well in his future endeavours and have no doubt that he will add tremendous value in his future ventures,” said SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane.

Mokoena was formerly the government’s chief officer of human capital & development.
