Japan, Switzerland agree to amend tax treaty

The government of Japan and the Swiss Federal Council have agreed in principle on a protocol amending their existing tax treaty, Japan’s finance ministry announced, February 8.

According to the Japanese ministry, the amended protocol reinforces or introduces provisions for clarifying the scope of taxation in the two countries, eliminates international double taxation, and prevents tax evasion and avoidance. 

No further details on the content of the agreement were released.
