Ireland, Ghana tax treaty signed

A new double tax treaty between Ireland and Ghana was signed on February 7, Irish Revenue today announced. Procedures are now underway to ratify the treaty, the government said.

The new treaty brings to 74 the number comprehensive double tax treaties signed by Ireland. Of these, all except for the tax treaty with Ghana are in effect.

The Irish government said that tax treaties with Pakistan, Botswana, and Ethiopia entered into effect in Ireland from January 1.

Ireland continues to negotiate new treaties and renegotiate existing treaties. Ireland’s existing tax treaties will also be updated to incorporate provisions under of the Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent BEPS, Irish Revenue said.
