India, China sign tax treaty protocol

Indian and Chinese officials signed a protocol to the India-China tax treaty on November 26, the Indian government has announced.

According to an Indian government spokesperson, the protocol updates the countries’ existing tax treaty by adding modern provisions for exchange of information.

The new protocol also adds tax treaty-related minimum standards and other provisions agreed to by nations in  2015 as a result of the OECD/G20 base erosion profit shifting (BEPS) project.
