Hong Kong-Macao tax arrangement enters into force

Hong Kong’s Inland Revenue Department on August 21 announced that an arrangement with Macao for the avoidance of double taxation entered into force as both sides completed the required approval procedures. The arrangement was signed in November 2019.

The new arrangement will be in effect in Hong Kong in respect of taxes on income derived for any year of assessment beginning on or after April 1, 2021, a Hong Kong government spokesman said.
