DLA Piper hires Andrew Lewis to run new South Africa tax practice

DLA Piper has launched a tax practice in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has appointed Andrew Lewis as its tax director, the firm announced August 29.

Lewis is formerly with FirstRand Bank Limited where he was a tax risk specialist. Prior to that, he was a tax director with Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyer.

“We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the firm. He is a particularly well regarded lawyer in the market and is extremely well-placed to launch our South African practice,” said Roderik Bouwman, DLA Piper’s co-global head of tax.
