China announces signing of tax arrangement with Taiwan

China’s State Administration of Taxation in a November 3 English-language release announced that China and Taiwan signed a tax arrangement on August 25.

The arrangement establishes tax-related dispute settlement and taxation communication and cooperation mechanisms, the SAT said.

The SAT said the agreement is “conducive to preventing and eliminating the double taxation issue in the economic and trade exchange across the Straits, reducing tax burdens of relevant enterprises and individuals, creating stable, favorable and transparent tax environment for investors across the Straits and promoting the mutual direct investment and strengthening economic and trade exchange across the Straits.”

The agreement will take effect after both parties have performed necessary procedures.
