Brian Jenn, former US Treasury Deputy International Tax Counsel, has joined McDermott Will & Emery’s tax practice as a partner, the firm announced today. Jenn will be based in McDermott’s Chicago office.
During his tenure at Treasury, Jenn was involved in drafting regulations and guidance implementing the international tax provisions in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Jenn was co-chair of the OECD’s Task Force on the Digital Economy and US delegate to the Committee on Fiscal Affairs (CFA).
He was also US delegate to CFA Working Party 6 concerning transfer pricing during the OECD/G20 base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project.
He also represented the US in negotiations concerning changes to key OECD transfer pricing guidelines concerning intangibles, cost contributions arrangements, risk and recharacterization, and low value-added services. He was a primary drafter of a recently issued set of foreign currency regulations.
“Brian speaks from a position of knowledge and authority about the policies and practical implications of tax reform, the new tax rules governing the evolving, digitalized economy, as well as a wide range of international tax issues,” said Jane Wells May, global head of McDermott’s Tax Practice.
Jenn received his BA and MA from Northwestern University and his JD from Yale Law School.
