Australia launches R&D tax incentive customer portal

The Australian Tax Office has launched a new customer portal to make it easier for companies to apply for the country’s R&D tax incentive.

Applications won’t be accepted through the portal until July 5, but applicants can begin using the portal now to start drafting their paperwork, the tax office said.

The portal includes an updated application form, making it clearer for applicants to understand the eligibility criteria, along with improved security measures.

Applicants will be able to use the portal in the future to apply for advance and “Overseas Finding” applications, request to change or withdraw an R&D tax incentive application, apply for an extension, and even check the status of previously submitted applications, it said.
