Japan to sign tax treaties with Denmark and Estonia

Japan’s Ministry of Finance today announced that it has reached agreements in principle for tax treaties with the governments of Denmark and Estonia.

Both treaties are designed to promote investment by eliminating double taxation and would prevent tax evasion and tax avoidance, the ministry said.

The agreement with Denmark would replace a 1968 between the countries. Japan and Estonia do not currently have a bilateral tax treaty.

Both agreements must be signed and ratified before they will enter into force,
