Former US Treasury Associate Tax Legislative Counsel, Alexandra Minkovich, has joined Baker & McKenzie’s Washington DC office as counsel, the firm has announced.
In her role at Treasury, Minkovich provided the US with advice in litigation matters on the validity of tax regulations and advised on policy issues related to tax guidance. Prior to that, she worked for Dewey & LeBoeuf and Cadwalader Wickersham and Taft in New York, where she assisted clients in the financial services and other industries.
“Alexandra’s experience with tax regulatory issues, and in particular with issues of regulatory validity, which is an area of growing significance to many of our clients, will be a valuable asset to our clients. In addition, her first-hand insight into today’s tax policy, tax legislation, and regulatory trends will both enhance and strengthen our global tax policy practice,” said Tom Linguanti, chair of Baker & McKenzie’s North American Tax Practice.
Alexandra’s experience working for Treasury, as well as her time in private practice addressing various issues for the financial services industry, complements our already strong tax presence in Washington,” said Rich Dean, managing partner of the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Minkovich received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, her J.D. from Columbia Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
