Australia releases draft rules to extend GST to cross-border transactions

Australia’s Treasurer on October 7 released an exposure draft of legislation that would extend the GST to digital products and other services imported by consumers.

The exposure draft also seeks comments on provisions to give effect to an announced but previously unenacted measure relating to GST cross border transactions and the ‘connected with Australia’ rules.

Feedback is due October 21.
