Diana L. Wollman, former IRS director of international strategy in the Large Business and International Division, will join Cleary Gottlieb’s tax practice in New York as a partner where she will focus on tax controversy matters, the firm has announced.
Wollman’s work at the IRS included improving the agency’s identification and handling of multinational company audit issues, and and its management and use of institutional knowledge and data. Wollman also participated in OECD working groups on behalf of the US, including Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) working groups, the Forum on Harmful Tax Practices, and the Forum on Tax Administration.
Prior to joining the IRS, Wollman was a partner with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York. She is also former chair of the Tax Section of the New York State Bar Association and a former adjunct professor at Columbia Law School, where she taught international tax and ethics in tax practice.
