OECD releases model protocol for automatic and spontaneous exchange of information, two handbooks

The OECD on July 7 released a model protocol to tax information exchange agreements to be used by governments wishing to extend their tax information exchange agreements to cover automatic or spontaneous exchange of tax information.

Also released was the Common Reporting Standard Implementation Handbook, designed to assist goverment officials and financial institutions in the implementation of the common reporting  standard. The handbook will be updated on a regular basis.

The OECD also released a publication, Update on Voluntary Disclosure Programmes: A Pathway to Tax Compliance, which describes the practical experience of 47 countries regarding their voluntary disclosure programs.
